Maintenance Windows

Pause alert notifications during a planned operation (database migration, reboot, update…) without losing events.

Access: verified_user Admin Area > shield Network & Security > notification_important Alerting > notifications_paused Maintenance.

During a maintenance window, matching alerts are still recorded and visible in the Alerts tab, but no channel is notified. As soon as the window ends, the next matching event notifies immediately, without waiting for the cooldown.

An alert whose notifications are suspended this way is easy to spot: a bell icon appears next to its rule in the alert list, and its detail starts with a banner naming the maintenance window. Its Deliveries section then states that the alert was not routed to any channel.

Create a Maintenance Window

  1. Open the notifications_paused Maintenance tab, then click + New window.

  2. Name the window and set its start and end. To suspend notifications for only some alerts, choose the rules, event types, severities, or organizations concerned.

  3. Click Create.

Form Fields

  • Name: label for this maintenance window (for example, “Database migration”). Required.

  • Description: document what’s happening (optional).

  • Starts at / Ends at: when to suppress matching notifications. Required.

  • Applies to: suspend notifications only for specific Rules, Event types, Severities, or Organizations. Leave filters empty to suspend notifications for all alerts during the window.

  • Enabled (checkbox): turn on or off without deleting. Enabled by default.
