Alerting

Get notified of the security events in your organization, and follow each alert through to its resolution.

Access: domain Organization > dashboard General > notification_important Alerting.

Note

Alerting is available for Private Cloud and On-Premises deployments only.

If Alerting does not appear in the menu, ask an instance administrator to enable it for the instance, then for your organization. See Enable alerting.

The organization console works like the instance console, but only shows the alerting of your organization. The pages of the instance console describe it in detail; this page lists what differs.

What Differs in an Organization

  • Event catalog: a filtered subset. Administration events specific to the instance are not available. See Alerting Event Catalog.

  • Rule targeting: there is no Targeted organizations field. For resource-related event types (for example, Session opened on a resource), the Targeted resources field lets you restrict the rule to specific machines or Composites. The default value is All resources.

  • Settings tab: not available. Alert retention is an instance-wide setting managed by instance administrators.

  • Roles: organization owners and administrators can manage alerting. There is no dedicated alerting role.

  • Channels: you can create channels for your organization, and use the instance channels that an instance administrator made Public.

  • Maintenance windows: the Applies to filters are Rules, Event types, Severities, and Resources, instead of Organizations.

Available Tabs

  • notifications_active Alerts: review, acknowledge, and resolve alerts. See Alerts.

  • rule Rules: define what triggers an alert. See Alert Rules.

  • hub Channels: choose where alerts are sent. See Notification Channels.

  • notifications_paused Maintenance: pause notifications during a planned operation. See Maintenance Windows.
