Reemo Thin Client

The Reemo Thin Client is a software application that allows you to use a basic computer to connect to a powerful remote machine.

The local computer serves solely as a relay for the display, keyboard, and mouse. Software runs and data remains secure on the remote machine (your desktop computer, a container, or a virtual machine). This allows you to use resource-intensive applications on machines that would normally lack the necessary power.

This thin client is particularly useful in the following situations:

  • Secure remote access: Employees access their usual work environment without any sensitive data being stored on the laptop used for the connection. In the event of hardware loss, access is cut off, but the data remains safe on the remote machine.

  • Cost-effective hardware: You can repurpose older or low-power computers to access the performance of modern machines. This allows you to standardize physical workstations while centralizing access management.

  • Education: Students can connect from home or from a basic computer lab to the school’s workstations to use demanding software (such as 3D modeling with Blender).

  • Retail and branches: Business applications are not installed locally. They are accessed remotely, which simplifies maintenance: an update on the host machine is immediately available to all users.

Hardware Requirements

The choice of hardware for your thin client is crucial to ensure efficient video decoding and optimal display fluidity, especially at high resolutions.

Recommended configurations (High resolution)

For smooth performance with two QHD displays (2560x1440) at 60 FPS or one UHD/4K display (3840x2160) at 60 FPS, we recommend the following minimum configuration:

  • Processor: Intel Core i3-1220P (or equivalent power)

Example of using Blender on dual QHD displays

Thin client demonstration: using Blender on dual QHD displays at 60 FPS.

Minimum technical requirements (GPU)

If you are evaluating other processor models for your Thin Clients, ensure that the integrated graphics chip strictly meets these specifications:

  • Graphics chip: Intel UHD Graphics

  • GPU frequency: 1 GHz minimum

  • Execution Units (EU): 64 cores minimum

Tip

Future-Proof choice To guarantee the best compatibility with future evolutions of our video protocols, favor a processor equipped with a hardware AV1 decoder (for example: the Intel Core 3 100U processor).

Warning

Insufficient hardware Certain ultra-low-power processors lack the decoding power necessary to run Reemo properly. The Intel Celeron N5105 processor (as well as lower-power models) is considered insufficient and should be avoided.
