Automate Browser Permissions

With Multiple screens, available on remote computers (Reemo Desktop), Reemo opens each remote display in its own browser window (see Your screens). The browser then asks for permissions: one prompt the first time, then one click per additional display at each connection (see Auto Fullscreen).

As an administrator, you can grant these permissions to Reemo only by deploying three browser policies: each display then opens in fullscreen on the right screen, with no prompt and no click. Every other site keeps the default protections.

Note

Multiple screens requires Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

Policies

Policy

What it allows

Versions

WindowManagementAllowedForUrls

See the screens and place a window on each, without the permission prompt.

Chrome 111+, Edge 123+

PopupsAllowedForUrls

Open one window per remote display. Otherwise the pop-up blocker allows one window per click.

All

AutomaticFullscreenAllowedForUrls

Put each window in fullscreen without a click.

Chrome 127+, Edge 132+

Each policy takes a list of addresses: enter the address your users open Reemo from, for example https://portal.example.com. The pattern https://[*.]example.com covers every subdomain. If you use the FullscreenAllowed policy, set it to true.

Deployment

In the examples below, replace https://portal.example.com with your address.

Windows

  • Group Policy: the Chrome and Edge administrative templates list the policies under Content settings.

  • Intune: the settings catalog lists the policies under Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

  • Registry: create one string value per address, named 1, 2, and so on.

For Chrome:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\WindowManagementAllowedForUrls
    1 = https://portal.example.com
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\PopupsAllowedForUrls
    1 = https://portal.example.com
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\AutomaticFullscreenAllowedForUrls
    1 = https://portal.example.com

For Edge:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\WindowManagementAllowedForUrls
    1 = https://portal.example.com
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\PopupsAllowedForUrls
    1 = https://portal.example.com
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\AutomaticFullscreenAllowedForUrls
    1 = https://portal.example.com

Linux

Create a JSON file in the managed policies folder of the browser:

  • Chrome: /etc/opt/chrome/policies/managed/reemo.json

  • Chromium: /etc/chromium/policies/managed/reemo.json

  • Edge: /etc/opt/edge/policies/managed/reemo.json

{
  "WindowManagementAllowedForUrls": ["https://portal.example.com"],
  "PopupsAllowedForUrls": ["https://portal.example.com"],
  "AutomaticFullscreenAllowedForUrls": ["https://portal.example.com"]
}

macOS

Create a configuration profile for com.google.Chrome or com.microsoft.Edge with the three policies above.

Check the Policies

  1. Open chrome://policy (or edge://policy) on a user’s computer. The three policies are listed with the status OK. After a change, reload the policies from that page.

  2. Start a session with Multiple screens. Each display opens in fullscreen on its screen, with no permission prompt.

Linux Sessions Under Wayland

If a window still opens on the wrong screen, start Chrome with --ozone-platform=x11.
